Programs Beams, Frame and SpFrame

The programs Beams, SpFrame_java, Frame and SpFrame_pascal belong to Volume 7.

Their concepts are discussed in the paper: 'The theory of elastic beams and its finite element implementation'.

Beams implements the solution of St.Venant's problem. The solution is based upon a virtual work formulation of the problem, which with TRIM6 finite elements leads to linear equations for the nodal values of the warping function.

SpFrame_java implements the finite element model of prismatic beams, based upon the elastic line concept.

Frame is a program for the analysis of two-dimensional beam structures. The program can handle arbitrary large displacements and rotations, provided the strains (outside plastic hinges) remain small.

SpFrame_pascal is a program for the static and dynamic analysis of three-dimensional beam structures and mechanisms.
